Ear, Nose, Throat Laser Surgery for Stamford, CT & Westchester, NY

When it comes to Otolaryngology surgeries at Stamford Ear, Nose & Throat, we recommend using lasers for certain surgeries. Laser surgery is necessary for cutting or destroying abnormal or diseased tissue without harming healthy tissue.

Lasers provide a number of benefits from quicker recovery times and faster healing to higher precision and easier accessibility for surgery in tighter areas. Our doctors want to ensure that each and every ear, nose and throat patient coming from Greenwich, CT, Stamford, CT, Westchester, NY and surrounding communities are given the proper care and respect.

Types of Lasers Used in Ear, Nose, Throat Surgeries

CO2 Lasers:
When it comes to lasers used for Otolaryngology, CO2 lasers are the most commonly used. They were first introduced and used in Otolaryngology by Strong and Jako in 1972. This laser provides precision in incisions, excisions and vaporization of the intended tissue by converting light energy to heat that is strong enough to reduce bleeding.
There are also other lasers used in surgeries for the ear, nose and throat.
Argon Laser: This type of laser is produced by Argon gas that uses blue-green visible light. It has a high photo coagulation power and is well absorbed by hemoglobin and pigmented tissue.
KTP – 532:
Produced using blue-green visible light that has a high absorption in vascular tissue and hemoglobin.
Neodymium: YAG:
This requires an aiming beam that uses a crystal rod of Yttrium aluminium garnet with neodymium ions. This is highly absorbed in vascular tissue.
